About Portugal and The Algarve
The Algarve is a unique destination on the southern coast of Portugal with delightful and picturesque fishing villages, hidden bays and coves, and long sandy beaches. Albufeira is a lovely village and the best known resort, Alvor has a long curve of golden sand and a blue lagoon on its doorstep, Cabanas is a quiet fishing village which has kept its traditions and charm, and is still relatively unspoilt. Carvoeiro is a traditional village with plenty to explore, Lagos enjoys pretty cobbled streets and 16th-century walls, Praia da Rocha has spectacular beaches and fun in the sun, and Quarteira is now a nice modern holiday centre. Tavira is an ancient town with many artefacts to discover, and Vilamoura has great sandy beaches and sports facilities.
