Health and Medications - Advice Before Travel Always check what vaccinations may be needed with your doctor or health centre before you travel or agree to go.
If you are taking prescribed medication at the time of travel then you should: Check if your medication is legal in the country or countries you will be visiting. Pack your medication in your hand luggage only. Take your prescription and a doctor's letter with you.
Make sure you have a current European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) if visiting countries within the European Economic Area (EEA). Please remember that this is not an alternative to travel insurance, and that you should arrange your own travel insurance to cover essential basic emergency cover when travelling abroad.
