About Greece
Greece is a country in south-east Europe about the size of England. In the north Greece is bordered by Albania, Bulgaria and Turkey, and has a very long coastline. In the west lies the Ionian Sea and in the south the Mediterranean Sea. The Aegean Sea, sometimes known as 'Archipelago' which means 'chief sea', lies to the east of the Greek mainland. Most of the many islands in the Aegean Sea belong to Greece as well as the larger island Crete at the southern end of it.

Greece covers an area in excess of 51,000 square miles and Athens is the capital city. Greece is generally mountainous and only about 25% of the land is cultivated. The highest mountains in Greece are Mount Olympus at 9,570 feet and Mount Parnassus at 8,060 feet
